The ultimate intention of homoerotic Tantra is to awaken the sādhaka (साधक) to his true self; this means awakening the Self and progressing to a state of self-awareness, self-knowledge. Tantra as a śāstra (शास्त्र) or science or philosophy is unique in its recognition of the physical aspect of the human being as being an essential tool for awakening consciousness, and attaining liberation or mokṣa (मोक्ष). The senses are particularly important and erotic sensuality (erotosensuality) is a way for the Tantrika (तान्त्रिक) to venerate and worship the Divine in himself and in his Tantric Lover. Tantra (तन्त्र) understands the senses and sensuality to be divine gifts and erotic sharing as part of the Divine creative playfulness called līlā (लीला).[1] Having made that statement, you won’t find me using the term masturbation or any of the profane terms you might find used in libertine neotantra or the New Age “sacred sexuality” movements so popular in the obsessive West, since such terms conceal all sorts of hidden, guilty, dirty connotations. This sādhanā exercise — the final sādhana exercise focusing on touch — is about solo-cultivation, in which you will set the intention of providing yourself with carefully orchestrated self-stimulation, in order to discover what your physical body can produce, and how physical stimulation works on your psychological, mental/emotional, and spiritual aspects. Moreover, these solo-cultivation sādhanā exercises are a way of giving you permission to get to know yourself without guilt or shame; you learn to love yourself and to worship yourself as a divine being. Ultimately, you will discover what kind of touching you prefer, and while absorbing and immersing yourself in the sensory erotic experience, you will allow yourself to feel the ecstasy of the melody while experiencing the entire symphony. self-exploration upper body anim Yes. You will be stimulating liṅgam (लिङ्गम्) and other erogenous regions not only of the mūlādhāra (मूलाधार) and svādhiṣṭhāna (स्वाधिष्ठान) regions, your main erotic areas, but also the entire body. The difference between this touching and profane self-gratification is that in Homoerotic Tantra you are touching with a reverential intention, you are worshiping the body being touched. If you receive pleasure, it is secondary to the spiritual experience; in other words, when a man touches himself or his Tantric Lover, he does so with respect, reverence, openness, surrender, gratitude, and acceptance. He touches selflessly with no expectations; he focuses on the moment and the process, and he is not distracted by the outcome or the destination. [1] The Sanskrit word līlā (लीला) means play, sport, pastime, diversion, pleasure, amusement; amorous pastime, wanton, amorous or playful sport; beauty, charm, grace; action.
